Here’s another team member profile! This week, you’ll meet Kim O’Brien.
Hi folks! Or shall I say, “ahoj!”
While born in Media, PA (just outside of Philadelphia), I spent most of my childhood in New Holland, PA and graduated from Garden Spot High School in 2005. I studied Media and Communications and Art History at Muhlenberg College and moved to New York City shortly after graduating in 2009.
After a year-long stint teaching writing courses in Queens, I moved back to Lancaster to work as a sports reporter for Lancaster Newspapers. Fast forward a few years, and I now work as a copywriter for Godfrey, a B2B marketing agency based in downtown Lancaster. I still contribute freelance articles to Lancaster Newspapers as well as Fly Magazine.
In short, you’ll always find me with a notebook, pen or recorder in hand! I love meeting people, learning about other cultures and sharing stories about the community. In both marketing and journalism, I love the challenge of writing messages that resonate with a variety of audiences.
Now on to the good stuff! Outside of work, I stay busy with hobbies like piano, swimming, hiking and drawing. I also enjoy catching up with family both near and far – from nearby New Holland all the way to Japan. What can I say… the O’Brien’s are a globe-trotting bunch!
I’ll leave you with three fun facts:
- I’m left-handed
- I’ve spent 3 days in the Czech Republic (during a semester studying abroad in Florence, Italy)
- I’ve hiked about 50 miles of the Appalachian Trail and hope to thru-hike the entire trail at some point!
